MILPITAS (KRON)--Milpitas police have arrested a San Jose elementary school teacher who is suspected of possessing child pornography.
Authorities say they received a report in August 2011 that 50-year-old Johnny Urias, a teacher at an elementary school in the Alum Rock School District in San Jose, was possibly in possession of child pornography.
In September 2011, investigators say they seized several of Urias' computers after executing search warrants at Urias' previous home, current home, classroom and vehicle. The computers were sent to the Silicon Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for forensic examination and investigation remain ongoing. Police say the Alum Rock School District was notified of the investigation and Urias was placed on leave from teaching at the school district.
According to authorities, investigators then developed probable cause to arrest Urias who was taken into custody Wednesday at his residence in the 1400 block of Merry Lane in San Jose. He was booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of possessing and manufacturing child pornography.
Anyone with information about this case should contact Milpitas police or their local authorities.
