Gas Prices Appear to Ease at Summer's Approach

WALNUT CREEK (KRON) -- There's a surprise this year for the summer driving season, gas prices actually seem to be going down.
"We do have good news," AAA spokesman Matt Skyra tells KRON 4's Terisa Estacio. "California's average state price is now below four dollars. The last time it was below four dollars was in February."
Terisa returned to a Walnut Creek gas station she visited in February and found the price of a regular unleaded gallon of gas was $3.99, 15 cents lower than in February.
Just four blocks away, Terisa found another station of the same brand selling gas for ten cents a gallon more.
"It's a big question when things are going to turn around," Skyra added. "July Fourth and other holidays is typically when prices start to go up because people are out enjoying the holiday. That helps push up demand and the prices."
Supply concerns and speculation appear to be among the reasons prices were so much higher in the winter than they are at the approach of summer.
