REDWOOD CITY (KRON) -- An armed robbery suspect is now in custody after a standoff outside his San Mateo County home.

Sheriff's officials tell KRON 4 News negotiators talked 30-year old Miguel Angel Caballero into surrendering at 6:29 p.m. Thursday.

Earlier authorities had evacuated about 60 people from their homes along Williams Avenue between Second and Third Avenues.  Others were told to stay inside their homes.

Investigators say Caballero's appearance matches surveillance photos taken during several armed robberies.  Detectives identified him based on tips from the public.

Caballero is wanted in connection with a series of robberies.  The first happened August 7th at the Willow Street Market.  Prosecutors say other crimes happened at the Panaderia Michoacan Market on Middlefield Road on Aug. 8, El Paisano Carniceria and Market on Middlefield Road on Aug. 9 and a gas station on Fifth Avenue

In each case, police say the robber pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded money.
