SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities believe a former water company clerk accused of trying to steal millions of dollars from a San Jose water company has fled overseas. Investigators say after quitting his job as an auditor for California Water Service Co. late last month, Abdirahman Ismail Abdi broke into the computers of the company and wired $9 million to overseas bank accounts. Though the funds were frozen and the money was returned to the company, the 32-year-old Abdi later fled. Documents in federal court Wednesday charged the 32-year-old Abdi with unlawful flight from prosecution. Federal agents believe Abdi left the country on May 5 after putting his wife and children on a plane to Germany the week before. --- Information from: San Jose Mercury News, http://www.sjmercury.com (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press.
