OAKLAND (KRON) – Insiders are confirming to KRON 4 that a new ball park for the Oakland Athletics could be built near the intersection of Market Street and Embarcadero West.
Sources tell KRON 4’s Haaziq Madyun the Oakland water front, not far from Jack London Square and close to the new ferry building, is the latest proposal for the new A’s stadium.
While officials could not confirm the exact location, Mayor Dellums’ spokesperson David Chai says a recent meeting between city officials and representatives for Major League Baseball proved hopeful, “They left that meeting very impressed by our overall efforts and we’re going to be in a process over the next month, making sure that our presentation and all of the details that go into it are sound.”
KRON 4 has also learned the new stadium model is similar to another big league ball park across the bay.
The next meeting between the two sides will be in June.

| I agree if they build it they will come. Look at what At&T park did for the China Basin area. The new stadium will make the embarcadero a destination for the east bay. Cafe's , Jazz clubs, Pubs. I can see the potential. |

| Help us keep the A's in Oakland
|
|
| Let's Go Oakland! is a group of A's fans, business people, labor leaders, and government officials who are committed to keeping the A's in Oakland.
But it's about much more than just building a ballpark. As part of a larger plan to build new hotels, restaurants, and cafes, a new destination stadium will attract visitors from all over the region. Like AT&T Park in Mission Bay did for San Francisco, our ballpark will be a catalyst to bring new investment and jobs to Oakland, kick-starting the next phase of our community's successful economic development.
If you support Oakland -- if you support the A's -- we hope you'll stand with us. Sign our petition, and urge Major League Baseball and team ownership to keep the A's in Oakland!
