SANTA ROSA (BCN) – Officials say a motorcyclist suffered severe leg and arm fractures when he was ejected after he sideswiped an oncoming truck on River Road Wednesday morning.

According to CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat, , 26-year-old
Jared Rain Forest of Fort Bragg was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital after the 11 a.m. crash east of Olivet Road in unincorporated Sonoma County,

Sloat says Forest was driving west on River Road at approximately 50 mph when  he turned his attention to a GPS unit on the Honda CBR motorcycle and drifted  into the eastbound lane.

The motorcycle reportedly struck the side of an eastbound 2000 International flatbed truck driven by Ricky Bien, 50, of Petaluma.

Bien pulled the truck far to the right but could not avoid the motorcycle, Sloat said. Bien was not hurt in the crash.

One-way traffic control was in effect for approximately 45 minutes while emergency crews cleared the accident scene, Sloat said.
