SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (BCN) -- The final mandatory evacuation orders in Santa Cruz County were lifted Friday morning several days after a storm pounded the area.
About 50 homes along Eureka Canyon Road in Corralitos were the final holdout in a series of mandatory evacuations ordered in the wake of Tuesday's storm, according to county spokeswoman Dinah Phillips. The area is near the site of last year's Summit Fire.
The storm caused mudslides and fallen trees, and shut down about 32 roads in the county after high winds and pelting rain rolled into the area Tuesday morning. The possibility of landslides and flooding prompted the county to mandate evacuation of about 140 homes the day of the storm, according to emergency officials.
