Teenager Accused of Groping Castro Valley High Student Walking to Campus
Created by Brian Shields on 10/27/2009 3:37:00 PM

CASTRO VALLEY (KRON) -- An 18-year old man is now in custody accused of groping a Castro Valley High School student who was walking on her way to school Tuesday morning.

The victim says the man approached her as she walked between two parked cars on San Miguel Avenue in Castro Valley just before 8:00 a.m. Tuesday.  She says her attacker grabbed her in her private parts.  She managed to fight him off and run to the school campus where she called security.

After notifying the Alameda County Sheriff's department, a school security officer started patrolling the area looking for the suspect and a pickup truck the victim saw him get into.  Eventually the security guard and a sheriff's deputy located a similar vehicle pulling into the driveway of a house near the school.

Investigators say when they approached the man, a bread knife fell out of the teenaged suspect's jacket.  The officers say they found the truck's license plates had been removed and placed in the cab.

The 18-year old man, who is not a student at Castro Valley High,  was taken into custody.  He now faces charges of sexual battery.

Investigators continue to look for evidence to determine if this is an isolated attack or if there are other potential victims.

It's a sad but unfortunate incident but it doesn't mean Castro Valley is a dangerous place to live. Spare us the knee-jerk overreactions and claims of finding utopia somewhere else. Crimes such as this take place everywhere.

Blame the parents...
Many times I see teenager dress up like a punk/hookers. Strolling down the boulevard. So where is the adults, should they know where their kids are? Social problems starts at home. Unfortunately this is the era of no responsibility. Letting the kids roam the night and longing to be called a COOL MOM AND DAD!

Time for us residents to do something about the trash in our town.
Isn't it incredable that the place where we grew up is now unsafe for our children? Its been time for us here to get the crap out of our town. Starting with the teens who don't belong going to our already over crowded schools. If we did this, I am sure there would be a positive difference in a relatively short time. Has anyone ever followed the bus that picks up students going home to other towns from our high school? Try it! These students bring with them friends who don't live around here and crime is a way of life for some of them. Castro vally has been good old country folk and at the very least just good people helping others. Its the new people coming in making changes that is creating the problems.

I moved out of the Bay Area several years ago. People there just accept whatever happends. We don't have any of the bay area problems here. It's like living in a different world.
