SAN JOSE (KRON) -- San Jose police say they have reason to believe two parents accused of kidnapping their children from a caregiver have now left the Bay Area

Nine year old Francisco Arias Jr. and his sister, three month old Ashley G. Arias were last seen at 9:38 a.m. Tuesday on Snell Street in south San Jose.

"We don't believe they're in the Bay Area," San Jose Police Officer Jermaine Thomas told KRON 4's Mark Danon and Darya Folsom.  "We think they're in Southern California and possibly headed to Mexico.  The Border Patrol is aware of this.   The feds are aware of what's going on and everyone's looking for these two suspects."

42-year old Francisco Arias Sr., who also goes by the name Antonio Arellano stands 5'6", weighs 200 lbs, with black hair and black eyes.  Investigators say he has the word "Francisco" tattoed on his stomach.

An arrest warrant is also out for 38-year old Estella Arias who also uses the name Estella Zamora.  She is 5'2" tall, weights 130 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.  The children's mother also has a tattoo of a flower on her left leg.

The two were last seen driving a red Ford Expedition with a California License Plate of 5FDA993.

Police say the family courts took custody away from Arellano and Arias after reports they were abusing the two children.

"Definitely we think the motivation is that they want their kids back," Officer Thomas added.  "The main thing is they were taken away because of these abuse allegations.  We don't know if they're being abused at this point in time now that they have the children."

If you know anything about the case or have seen the vehicle, contact San Jose police or your local authorities.

Holes in the story
Doesn't this story stink? There's a lot of unanswered questions that are not being addressed, here. Like why is it dangerous for the children to be with their "parents". Are the parents in the country illegally? Are the children? Who are the "guardians"? The media is leaving these parts out, intentionally, I think.
