RICHMOND (BCN) -- Police are searching for a gunman who shot a man in the city's Southern District Monday morning, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said.
At about 10:30 a.m. police received a call reporting shots fired at the intersection of South 17th Street and Maine Avenue, French said.
When officers arrived, they found the victim lying on the street corner suffering from at least one gunshot wound, French said.
The victim, who appeared to be in his early to mid-20s, was taken to a hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, French said.
The suspect was described only as a black man in all black clothing. Officers were still searching the area late this morning with a police dog to see if they could track the suspect, but as of about 11:15 a.m., the shooter had not been found.
Police had the intersection where the shooting happened blocked off, but no other closures were reported.
