Experts Determine Bones Found at Garrido Home Were Buried Long Ago The Contra Costa County Sheriff's office said Friday that bone fragments dug up from the backyard of kidnapping suspect Phillip Garrido's home and a neighboring property probably belonged to American Indians buried a long time ago. Sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said that while scientists at a state forensics lab were unable to pull any DNA from the bones, an anthropologist concluded the fragments were likely human, but probably old.

Police: Bones on Garrido Property Likely Animal Northern California investigators probing two old kidnapping cases say some of the bone fragments found on the property of a man charged in a separate abduction are likely from animals. Hayward police Lt. Chris Orrey said Thursday that preliminary test results from some fragments collected on Phillip Garrido's property show they are likely not human. Phillip Garrido Says Jaycee Dugard Was Denied a Lawyer During Probe Phillip Garrido has contacted a Sacramento television station to express concerns about the legal rights of the woman he is charged with kidnapping 18 years ago, raping and hiding in the backyard of his home. In a letter addressed to a KCRA anchorman and dated Sept. 29, Garrido wrote that Jaycee Dugard "has been repeatedly denied access to have an attorney present during questioning," the station reported Wednesday.
