San Francisco's Only Gun Store Allowed to Keep Permit, Despite Objections From Some Neighbors

San Francisco police officials say the city's only gun store will be allowed to resume its five-decade-old business over the objections of some neighborhood residents. Police officials on Wednesday gave conditional approval to renew a license for High Bridge Arms, which has operated for five decades on Mission Street but shut down when a permit expired in February.

MTC Approves BART's Oakland Airport Connector

Governor Schwarzenegger Insists He Won't Order Prop 8 Appeal

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is holding firm in his refusal to defend the state's same-sex marriage ban in court. Lawyers for Schwarzenegger said in a letter Wednesday that the governor has authority to refuse to appeal a federal judge's ruling that overturned Proposition 8. The letter was filed with the California Supreme Court.

Hewlett-Packard Co. is suing former CEO Mark Hurd to stop him from taking a job at rival Oracle Corp. The complaint filed Tuesday in a California state court comes a day after Oracle hired Hurd as co-president to help lead the database software maker as it tries to muscle in on more of HP's turf.

Police Arrest Man Who Scaled San Francisco Tower

San Francisco police have arrested a man who scaled the exterior of a 58-story downtown skyscraper and unfurled an American flag at the top. Police tell KCBS radio that the man is veteran skyscraper climber Dan Goodwin. The 54-year-old Lake Tahoe resident's other climbing credits include Chicago's Sears Tower.

Pacifica Police Seek Three in Connection With Home Invasion and Robbery

The Pacifica Police Department is seeking three suspects in connection with a home invasion and robbery that occurred Sunday night. The victims of the robbery were not injured during the break-in, police said. Police units arrived at the house in the 100 block of McKinney Avenue at about 9:55 p.m. Sunday, according to a statement. The multiple victims then gave police an account of the robbery.

The flight controls on a small plane that crashed in a lagoon off San Francisco Bay, killing three people on board, were in the correct position, an official with the National Transportation Safety Board said Saturday, as two of the victims were identified.
