Obama Picks Up 9 Superdelegates, Union Endorsement
Barack Obama all but erased Hillary Rodham Clinton's once-imposing lead among national convention superdelegates on Friday and won fresh labor backing as elements of the Democratic Party began coalescing around the Illinois senator for the fall campaign. Obama picked up the backing of nine superdelegates, including Rep. Donald Payne of New Jersey, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus who had been a Clinton supporter.

Cosco Busan Pilot Wants Charges Thrown Out or Change of Venue
The lawyer for Cosco Busan Pilot John Cota hopes his client won't have to face criminal charges but if there is a trial he hopes it happens outside the Bay Area. Attorney Jeff Bornstein says he will ask for dismissal of four criminal charges against Cota in connection with the November 7th accident in which the Chinese freighter struck the Bay Bridge spilling oil into the water.  A hearing on the motion is set for July 18.
San Francisco Denies Liability in Zoo Tiger Attack
If the two brothers who survived a Christmas Day tiger attack at the San Francisco Zoo want to get compensation from the city and county of San Francisco, they'll have to sue. The San Francisco City Attorney's office is denying a claim from  Kulbir and Paul Dhaliwal in connection with the attack that left their teenaged friend Carlos Sousa Jr. dead. 
16 Children at El Sobrante School Have Confirmed Cases of Whooping Cough
At least 16 children who attend an El Sobrante private school have confirmed cases of Whooping Cough. Contra Costa County Health officials say that's why they've issued an order to close the East Bay Waldorf School until Monday.  Only students and staff members who have no symptoms and can prove they're getting antibiotic treatments will be allowed to return then.  All other school children and teachers could be excluded for three weeks.
Crews Remove Dead Baby Whale from Underneath SF Pier
Now that crews have removed a dead baby whale from underneath San Francisco's Pier 27, officials are trying to determine how it died. The 25-30 foot whale was found Thursday wedged under wooden pilings at the end of the pier.
